Now in its third decade of operation, The Chapman School of Seamanship is the only school of its kind in the United States. The mission of the school is to prepare persons for employment in the maritime field, but has broadened its emphasis to include programs for the recreational boater.

The faculty is comprised of veteran master mariners, all are U. S. Coast Guard licensed captains.
